working out at home or at the gym…
Let me preface this post with a little note… that is definitely not me in this photo. If I looked like that I feel like it would mean I was on the right track and doing what I should for my body. Let’s just put this pic in the category labeled “inspiration.”
As far as this health journey of mine, I need to get back into my workout routine. For a while there I was doing really good. Not perfect about staying on track, but pretty good. Now my debate is whether my workout routine should be at home or back at the gym.
I had a gym membership and even a personal trainer for a while. It was on the way home from work, making it really handy to stay on track. I made exercise a real priority in my life. I made time for it even when it meant working out after a really long day at the office leaving very little down time at home at night.
I now have a treadmill at home along with a few small pieces of workout equipment (resistance bands, kettle bell, aerobic ball, etc.) and some DVDs. So I’m wondering if I would be better off fitting in workouts at home or if I should get my gym membership back. There are definitely benefits to both. I’m not sure which one is best for me.
The first step is making sure I set aside time to make exercise a major priority in my life. Maybe that means I figure out how to fit in a walk on the treadmill in the morning and some other workout after work. Even if it’s only 30 minutes a day, it’s a start.
All I know is I have to make some changes. And baby steps are okay in the beginning.
