What’s in a name…
After reading the post sort of explaining what this blog is about are you wondering what the blog title “Finding Zoey” means. Well I guess I should probably explain.
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be someone else? Ever been around someone that made you wonder what it would be like to have the confidence they do? Have you ever wondered how things could be different in your life if you could only be the true you that wants to shine through all the doubt and insecurity? I know I have.
The name Zoey came as a joke a while back. One year for Halloween I dressed up as someone with the appearance and personality of someone completely different from my normal self. The chance to pretend to be someone else, someone more confident and outgoing, was fun. During the day I had some people who didn’t even recognize me. One of them jokingly asked me if the new look was my alter-ego. I laughed and said it was. She asked what my alter-ego’s name was. The name Zoey just popped out of my mouth. So she started laughing. The rest of the day she called me Zoey every time she saw me. It was fun.
So the title “Finding Zoey” represents the journey to make some changes in my life to find the true me that wants to shine through. I want to make changes to overcome my original shy personality, be more outgoing, be in better shape, healthier, more organized, more purpose oriented, and more determined to reach my life goals. I want to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see. I want to look at my life and know I’m doing my best to make it what I want it to be.
And recently I found the image above from a cute shop on Etsy called OhBabyNames. It’s perfect! The origin of the name is from a Greek word meaning “life.” And since this is my journey to a better life, I think it fits pretty perfectly.
Do any of you out there have an alter-ego that represents what you want you life to be?
