Thinner in 30: Change #1 (Part 2)
AFTER...
So here I am at the end of Day 1 / Change 1…
Today’s change was to start my day out by drinking 20 sips of water before I got out of bed. Not too bad as far as changes go. It was a little awkward at first just because it wasn’t my usual and I was definitely a little groggy this morning.
I had fully intended to start my day bright and early, making it to the office at at great time so I could leave at a good time. All so I could make it to the gym after work for my first workout there in quite a while. Well life doesn’t always work out like we plan. I had such a hard time getting to sleep last night and as a result I slept through my alarm and woke up late. Fortunately, I think the new water thing did help. I’ll even admit that I felt refreshed and ready to go. I made good time getting ready and great time on the road.
I kept a bottle of water with me at my desk at work. I’m not going to say I was constantly drinking water all day, because I wasn’t. But I did sip quite a bit throughout the day. I had water with my lunch and afternoon snack as well. I even opted for water with my dinner tonight.
And I’m happy to say that I did make it to the gym after work. On my way there I was forced to deal with a few little insecurities about going back after abandoning it for so long. If I’m being honest, I’ve really missed working out at the gym. I bought a treadmill for the house a few months ago thinking that would motivate me. And I used it quite a bit at first. But there’s just something about working out at the gym, whether it’s cardio on the treadmill or strength training with machines and weights. I just feel like I’m being held more accountable with other people being around. Not that I’m a social butterfly at the gym or anything. But with other people around I don’t slack as much.
I’m pretty excited that on my first day back I walked 3 miles. And it felt great. I’m mean I’m pretty exhausted right now, but in a good way.
And as it stands right now while typing this, my Galaxy Gear is reporting that I’ve taken 13,314 steps today. That’s pretty great for me these days since I work at a desk most of the day. It does help that I walked six houses on one of our job sites and worked out at the gym after work today.
So even though I didn’t get all my goal ounces of water in today, I’m feeling pretty good about what I’ve accomplished today.
One thing I’m debating on tweaking about this change is that I’m tempted to wait to do my 20 sips until after doing a morning bathroom break and weigh-in. I know Jenna says not to be so worried about what the scale says. But for me personally I’ve found that I have more success when I keep an eye out on my weight on a daily or regular basis. Otherwise I’m just not nearly as aware of what’s going on with my progress. I feel like I let myself slip up more when I ignore the scale for too long. Just a thought though. I may try it out the “first thing” way for this week to see how I feel about it and go from there.
