Thinner in 30…

Just in case you missed my last post, I’ll bring you up to date…

I’m going to start working my way through the book Thinner in 30” by Jenna Wolfe.  I’m really excited about it.  I’ve tried so many things in the past and haven’t really been able to stick with anything.  I want this to be different.

After reading the Introduction to Jenna’s book, I’m inspired to try this.  So much of what she’s said made sense and resonated with me.  I want this to stick.

This is all about applying these small 30 changes to how you live your life in order to make for a healthier lifestyle.  And like she says, “It’s not supposed to be easy. Day One of any sort of change, much less this one, is a monumental act of courage.” (Loc. 60)  And “if you change nothing, nothing changes.” (Loc. 63)

Oh there’s so many great quotes even in just the Introduction!  (I’ll be sure to share more through my Instragram, Twitter, & Facebook.)  It gives me high hopes for this challenge.

I want to work hard on this, but I also want to pace myself so I know it will stick.  Jenna says in her book, “It takes more than just wanting to improve to see results. It takes energy and willpower and failure and a little sweat and a few tears, but most important, it takes time, patience, and commitment. Change doesn’t happen in a day. If it did, we’d all be perfect from Day One.” (Loc. 97)

So each day I will be learning a small change to apply to my daily life.  And I’ll follow the rules:

    1. Once you learn each change, don’t stop doing it as you move forward.
    2. Please do them in Order.
    3. Move at your own pace.

She even stresses that “If it takes you a little more time to adapt to a Change, by all means spend time on it. And if you have to go backward because a Change didn’t quite stick, then I want you to go back without feeling bad about it.” (Loc. 183)

I’ll blog about each step of my journey through this.  I’ll be keeping a list of references and notes along the way.  I don’t want to give away everything in her book, because it’s worth the purchase.

Here we go…
