Nutrisystem,  Progress

And so it begins…

I’m pretty new to this blogging thing.  Try not to hold that against me.  I keep thinking of things I want to say at the weirdest times.  And it always seems to happen when there’s no pen, paper, or cell phone to take notes (example: in the shower this morning).  I’m trying to be better about that.

So I’ll start with what’s on my mind right now.

My first big move towards my happier, healthier self was to commit to the Nutrisystem program.  I got one of those Jumpstart kits from Walmart to try it out a couple weeks ago.  I figured this would help me decide if committing to the full program would be worth it.  I definitely had results with the starter kit – I lost 5 pounds that week.  Of course I had a little set back the week after when I went on a trip to Florida to visit a client.  That aside, the system worked.  So I made the decision to go for the full Nutrisystem experience.

I went with the “Uniquely Yours” program from Nurtrisystem.  It allows me to choose which entrees I want instead of having them chosen for me.  This plan also comes with the frozen food selection.  I had no idea how many different options Nutrisystem has to offer.  So far everything I’ve tried between my week long trial before and my time now has been great.

I chose to start the program on June 1st even though that was in the middle of the week.  By choosing this date it makes it a more official kind of beginning.  So this is day six and I’ve lost 4 pounds so far.  I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty good progress.

I’m trying to work in at least a 30 minute walk in the morning before work so far.  That’s pretty hard for me since I’m so not a morning person.  And to be honest, there’s no way I could do it without the support from my fiancé.  He’s definitely better and getting up early.  He’s been there to pull me out of bed, sometimes literally.

I’ve done really well at sticking to the program.  Adding in my own vegetables to spice up my meals is a great part of the program.  For example last night for dinner I had the Nutrisystem entree of the Italian Flatbread Pizza.  I chose to add some fresh portobello mushrooms and bake it in the oven.  The edges came out nice and crispy.  I also added a side of broccoli.  The meal was great!

Since I started my program in the middle of the week, I waited till Sunday (yesterday) to do the Turbo 10 portion of the system.  This part is supposed to help you loose 10 pounds and 5 inches in your first month.  Both yesterday and today have been kind of crazy though so I haven’t been able to fit in every element of the system today.  I’m not really worried about that though.

And I’ll admit that even though this program is great, I did cheat a little on Saturday night.  I’m sure you won’t blame me when I say why.  My fiancé and I met up with my sister and her family at the fair Saturday night to hang out and watch the Demolition Derby.  And who can resist some warm, fresh funnel cake?  Not this girl.  I had to split one.  It’s just been years since I’ve had one.  Even with that because I planned out my meals and calories for the day in preparation along with all the walking around, I still lost a pound that day.  Can you say happy?  Yes, yes I can.

So the journey continues.  I’ll keep you up to date.
